Does anyone else hate brushing their teeth in public? it has always seemed quite an intimate act to me.?

I feel brushing teeth is very private, if you are like me and brush with all the froth coming out etc you do not want people to see this. Even a new boyfriend was asked to leave the bathroom when I needed to brush my teeth even though I had just had a shower in front of him.

Does anyone else feel like this.

I agree with you on that one, I even boot the children out of the bathroom
Reply:no, but its a bit funny to watch
Reply:never had a problem with that. but i guess i understand.
Reply:Me! My boyfriend can brush his teeth without much frothy stuff but I can't. Otherwise it doesn't feel clean enough... I prefer to do it alone but have adjusted to JUST my boyfriend being there. I still feel weird.
Reply:no, i dont care realy.. if people laugh at me, i'll just smile my teeth at them and they'll go blind... they wont be laughing anymore:) lol

Reply:Yes! It is very a very private thing to do. I am especially bad about this since seeing someone else brush their teeth makes me want to throw up...I don't want to make someone else feel that way, you know? LOL, it is a very personal thing...especially like us "with all the froth coming out"...hehehe!
Reply:I did....But I got over it, and started thinking that brushing teeth is just a small detail in life and people can watch me if they want. And if they do I think they are admiring me ;) ( it helps..)
Reply:Oh, yeah. Definitely a private affair. Anything involving a bodily function needs to stay private.
Reply:Even a new boyfriend was asked to leave the bathroom when I needed to brush my teeth even though I had just had a shower in front of him.

Your teeth is even more private than your body? haha.
Reply:I had never thought about it but I do close the bathrooom door as I brush so I guess it would bother me. In the military around others it didn't bother me cause you had to get it done but now I would not.
Reply:no i dont matter but i only brush my teeth at school and in the bathroom anyway so lol.
Reply:When we travel on the road, I am not afraid to brush my teeth in the rest areas. It also inspires other people doing the same thing.
Reply:My husband isn't welcome to be in the bathroom with me at all, no exceptions! I don't want him to see me pluck my eyebrows and put on makeup--he's supposed to think I just magically transform!

But if there's a show I don't want to miss, I'll brush my teeth right out there in the living room in front of both my husband and my daughter, with so much froth dripping in great dollops down my front I look like a rabid dog. Isn't that funny what individuals consider intimate and what they don't? Don't worry, you're not weird.
Reply:Whew. I thought I was the only one who preferred privacy while brushing my teeth!

I know exactly how you feel. I avoid any conflict by brushing my teeth when I am showering. Since I almost always shower alone (maybe hubby joins in from time to time), I can brush my teeth in private to my heart's content!

*Thanks for posting. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one!*
Reply:Your own home and family isn't "in public". And for that matter, neither is a "public" washroom. And tooth brushing is not the same as sitting on the toilet.

But we all have different comfort levels, and it's not for me to tell you what to do. As long as you don't try to stop me from brushing my teeth when I need to.
