Whoa, you have gotten some pretty varied answers and some of them dead wrong. Here's the real scoop. There are two major issues regarding your question. (1) Let me say right off that excessive brushing doesn't keep the teeth any cleaner than just a reasonable schedule. (2) In your case brushing after each meal and before bedtime is the "max" reasonable requirement. (3)..The kind of brush you use is important as is how long you use it. You should be using a brush with either "soft" or "medium" stiff bristles. (4) Then whatever brush your using should be trashed every four months...thereafter when you no longer have braces you change brushes every six months. Toothbrushes can harbor many kinds of germs, so not only changing them is important, sterilizing between brushings is also important. Keep your toothbrush in either salt water or mouth wash or hydrogen peroxide between brushing's..."but" rinse before using. Over brushing with a toothbrush that has really stiff bristles can damage both the gum tissue and the teeth themselves. have a great day and I wish you well.
Reply:i wouldnt think so
Reply:1) It is possible to brush too hard, damaging the gums a bit. (Poster in dentist's)

2) It may be possible to damage the teeth if you brush immediately after acid food e.g. fruit juice alone, for about half an hour.

3) Of course, rinsing the mouth out with water is never wrong.
