Brushing teeth with baking soda?

Does it make your teeth whiter?

And how do you do it - mix it with toothpaste or water and dip the brush in?

I'm not sure how this works.

:]

Brushing teeth with baking soda?
Yeah, it definitely makes your teeth whiter - just don't do it more than a couple times a week, the effect is similar to sandpaper, just grinding the gunk off your teeth - which is good, to a point!

Here's how I do it: Put toothpaste on your toothbrush, just like u normally do. Then, dip the brush into the box of baking soda, just a little bit - otherwise, it will taste terrible! Then, start on your front teeth, and start brushing in circles. Then go around your other teeth. Rinse well!

It leaves your teeth feeling so smooth, just like you've come from the dentist!

I have to say, for whitening, I've been amazed with Sensodyne Maximum Strength Extra Whitening. Even my husband was like wow!

p.s. I prefer to put the baking soda on top of the toothpaste instead of just brushing with the baking soda by itself bc I can't stand the taste! Soo nasty! Using it w/toothpaste is best IMO. There are toothpastes w/baking soda in it, but IMO the 'manual' version works best - I think it starts to dissolve too much in the premixed toothpastes and doesn't work as good. GL!
Reply:you could also use th arm and hammer toothpaste .. and there are toothpaste that also have baking soda in them for whitening. Try one of those ~~
Reply:jkgirl08 is right. You don't need to dip your brush in water or anything. Arm %26amp; Hammer makes toothpaste that already has baking soda in it.
Reply:Baking soda has a fine abrasive which will make your teeth whiter. The main reason they say use baking soda is it neutralizes acids which cause gum disease and tooth decay.

You wet your toothbrush and dip it into the baking soda and brush your teeth with it. Doesn't taste too good, there are a number of tooth pastes that have baking soda in them.
Reply:My mother used baking soda to brush her teeth all her life, we always had toothpaste in the house but she swore that was better. She would just shake a little in her palm and dampen her toothbrush and dip the toothbrush in the baking soda and use it like that. I have heard people adding a little salt to it but I don't think she did and I wouldn't know how much to add. She had white teeth even though she drank coffee alot and the dentist was always remarked about how little plaque she had.
