In the morning, should i be brushing my teeth right when i wake up, or after i eat breakfast?

i went to the dentist yesterday and i was brushing too hard before and had to get two teeth bonded.

im thinking it might be also b/c i'm brushing too much maybe?

right now right when i wake up i brush my teeth.. then after i finish breakfast i brush my teeth again.

is there really any point to brushing my teeth right when I wake up if i brush them again after eating breakfast?

thanks

Brush after breakfast, not before, but an important point is if you drink orange or grapefuit juice in the morning you should wait at least 30 mins before brushing or avoid drinking juice in the morning. The acid makes the enamel soft and if you brush straight after it can be damaged.
Reply:No, you should only brush your teeth once in the morning, ideally after you've had breakfast.
Reply:I just do it after bfast. Gets rid of the coffe smell. I know you can suffer from enamel erosion from chronic overbrushing.
Reply:Why would you want to brush your teeth before breakfast...doesn't it make it taste funny?
Reply:well when you wake up you have bacteria in your mouth. So i say brush after u wake up then use mouth wash after breakfast
Reply:brush after breakfast...try to think of relaxing things while brushing too.
Reply:brush after brekie, bit pointless brushin before eatin then brushing again
Reply:do it after breakfast. I would switch toothbrushes. I would switch to one with soft bristles and brush each section for 30 section
Reply:just before breakfast and befor bed.. dont do it too often and dont do it too hard cuz it may bad for ur gums.. also if ur gums r really sour then u should temporarily quite brushing ur teeth and use another routine which is use ur finger with the powder instead of paste.. and after that use the mouth wash gums (found on medical stores) to clean ur teeth completely.. i hope that helps...
Reply:Dental and gum diseases (like cavities) usually aren't caused by food particles in your teeth; they are caused by the sticky substance that microbes (mostly bacteria) deposit on your teeth. This yucky stuff is called plaque (pronounced 'plack') and the microbes use it to stick to your teeth, to keep from sliding right off your teeth ... think of the way barnacles stick to the hull of a boat.

If you are cleaning off the plaque once in every 24 hours with a thorough brushing and flossing, that is adequate. More often than that and it can contribute to problems like worn enamel and receding gum line. It doesn't' matter whether you do it before or after meals, as long as it's once each day.

If you want to remove visible crumbs or 'feel fresh' more often than that, do a light brushing with a soft brush or just use mouthwash.
Reply:Brush after breakfast, the food particles in the grooves of your teeth CAN cause decay...its better to brush the food out and be safe.
Reply:I brush when I get up because of morning breath and don't eat breakfast .. but, if I did , then I would gargle before and then brush after breakfast.
Reply:Always brush after a meal duh. Brushing before eating is pointless because it is the food that decays your teeth!
