Kids and teeth brushing...?

Does anyone else have issues with their child(ren) not brushing his/her teeth?

How do deal with it?

Kids and teeth brushing...?
I actually dont know why children refuse to brush their teeth. But have you maybe tried letting them pick out a toothbrush they like and think is "cool?" If you let them maybe that can help to persuade them. Also, you could let them choose their own flavor of toothpaste. If its a flavor they chose then they most likely will be more eager to brush their teeth.
Reply:Of course. Brush their teeth for them. It is better to do that than have their teeth rot. Eventually they'll pick it up on their own.
Reply:I have to fight with my 6 year old quite frequently. I often buy hew new tooth pastes and new tooth brushes to get her excited about it. Plus I try to bring her in the bathroom when I'm brushing and she'll do it just because she sees me doing it.
Reply:You should buy childrens toothpaste. It protects against cavities and kids like the flavor and I totally agree with the person up their that said to let them pick their own toothbrush
Reply:They have these really cool toothbrushes at walmart...they are called tooth tunes. They play a song while you brush your teeth. My eight year old loves it!

As far as getting them to do it...you have to make it a habit. To start, you need to take them yourself, tell them its time to brush and you stand there until its done. After a while, they get the hint.
Reply:My 6 year old son brushes his teeth, so that isn't the problem. My problem is that he doesn't brush long enough, or really the right way.

Sometimes, I will walk past the bathroom, and he will have the tooth brush sitting in his mouth, not doing anything with it.

Or, he will go in and 10 seconds later, he will be out.

My answer was taking him to the dentist. I tried and tried to explain to him the damage that could be done by not brushing or poor brushing, and he wouldn't listen. So, I took him to the dentist, and had the dentist tell him the cold, hard truth. Since then, he has been doing better, but I still have to keep an eye on him to assure he is doing a good job.

I dunno if this is the answer you wanted, but it's the only answer I have!

Best of Luck to you!
