Pain when brushing teeth around the neck of teeth?

I do not have caries or dental cavity.

I brush my teeth three times a day.

My dents are very sensitive to hot (like tea) and cold (like icecream), too.

I just had a routine check at my dentist, he says everything is alright.

What to do? Any suggestions?

Pain when brushing teeth around the neck of teeth?
all the suggestions given are great.the root cause for your problem is due to hard brushing with a toothbrush.you will have to educate yourself to brush without harming the enamel of your teeth.you are suffering from toothbrush abrasions which are not visible currently.Your dentist will be able to notice them on a closer look.the more you brush hard the deeper the dentin will be lost and lead to sensitivity and pain.visit your dentist at the earliest. In the meantime get a paste with potassium nitrate in it and leave it on the sensitive areas after brushing for some time.the dentin tubules will absorb the nitrate and reduce the pain.It is available as nitra k or nitral gel toothpaste.
Reply:it might be sensitivity, try a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.

are you 12 or 17? you might have new teeth (*wisdom and 12 molar) growing in.

good luck
Reply:Dental care %26amp; mouth care.

After every meal, chew a little salt and gargle with water. Soft brush can be used to clean the particles caught between the teeth and the gums. Make it habit to clean the teeth every morning and before retiring to bed. In India, people use thin twig of a Babul, Banyan or a Neem tree (known as Datoon) as a brush. First it is to be crushed to make it soft and then use it like a brush. It is advisable to us a Datoon of Babul, Banyan or Neem tree at least once a day.

It is reported by experienced dentists that tooth pastes available in the marked are not much effective. Instead, the following tooth powder or paste which can be easily made at home has been found quite useful for the care of gums and teeth :

1. Tooth Powder : Mixture of finely ground alum powder 40% and rock salt or regular salt powder 60%. For better results, a few drops of lemon may be added. In case of dental problems, adding a little of 'Sudarshan' (a bitter Ayrvedic powder is also recommended.

2. Tooth-paste : For dental problemslike bleeding, pyorrhoea, toothache, etc. make a paste of

50% alum powder

10% rock salt or table salt powder

10% Sudarshan powder (an Ayurvedic preparation)

15% edible oil (unrefined)

10% glycerine tanic acid

5% camphor.

The paste made of this mixture can be massaged on the teeth and gums in the morning and evening with fingers. It ca be packed in collapsible tubes/jars and used, as tooth-paste.

3. Even massaging the gums with a mixture of 70% unrefined edible oil (seasame or groundnut or coconut), 15% glycerine tanic acid and 15% fine powder of rock salt or table salt is useful for good, healthy teeth and gums. Make it a daily habit. Please not that healthy gums are more useful than sparkling white teeth.

4. Mouth Freshener : Gargling with a lemon juice mixed with lukewarm water, freshens the mouth. Take a quarter of a lemon, massage it on teeth and gums and then gargle with water. Even chewing of mango, tulsi or betel leaves after meals is good, and so it is advised in India.

5. Exercises for teeth : Keep the lips closed. Pound the upper teeth on lower teeth for 30 to 40 times twice a day. Then massage the saliva on gums with the tongue. That will ensure proper blood circulation in teeth and increase the life of healthy teeth and gums.
Reply:Besides the earlier suggestion avoid using hot and cold food items, cut down on citric food. Start using dental floss, as needed, if have not started already. In the early years there is a special coating that is available that prevents Dentine loss.

Reply:Tooth sensitivity can be triggered by brushing too hard. If you brush too hard on your teeth it will add too much pressure (especially around sensitive teeth) which can cut your gums and make your mouth sore. I'd say get a toothbrush with softer bristles are opt to buy an electric so you don't have to push. Also check out Sensodyne, the toothpaste for sensitive teeth. Brush your teeth gently, an electric toothbrush will help, particularly one with a pressure sensor such as the Braun Oral-B Professional Care 8500 Delux.

Hope this helps.
Reply:if youre brushing hard you could be brushing away gingiva and causing pain
Reply:While brushing in the night, use a mixture of common salt and mustard oil instead of tooth paste. You can see the difference after doing so for a week.
Reply:I would have said see a dentist but that is no good, dentist should have evaluated few things, like porous teeth, or just sensitive teeth.

So take it up on yourself to detect the problem by elimination. Use alternately different tooth paste every day, they make one for sensitive teeth, other for enamel build up or stronger teeth and one with whitening and anti cavity compound.

In your case I suggest brushing gently after you eat any thing or drink any thing other then the water, if you cannot always brush then take water in the moth hold and cosh it for few minute and swallow (if you cannot spit it out, keep a bottle of water with you) it soon after each and every food or drink, as specially any thing sweet.
