Whats with brushing ones teeth twice a day? Is that really necessary?

I brush my teeth once a week and so far it has proven sufficient. Sometimes when i forget (and more than 12-13 days pass) I feel like i should brush my teeth and i do it. But otherwise I am OK. I have been following the same routine for fifteen years and no dentist yet.

Is brushing your teeth (and that too twice a day) for everybody? My guess is those people who brush their teeth regularly need to continue brushing because there teeth do not develop their (natural) resistance.

Once a denstist told me that teeths susceptibility to diseases differs from person to person and is genetic.

If you ever want anyone to kiss you, you should probably brush your teeth.

Food can get caught between your teeth, rot and cause tooth decay. Brush AND floss. Your breath must smell like a$$.

It's not just about your teeth. Brushing can help prevent gum disease. Plaque will eventually build up and cause your teeth to fall out.
Reply:It's different from person to person.

Mine change color easily after few meals so I have to brush them every day :/

+ it keeps food from not getting stuck and makes my breath smell better
Reply:Your gums must be rank mate and your breath must smell of death. Surely your teeth must feel 'furry' if you haven't brushed them for over a day?? Thats the obvious indication for bacteria-infested plaque building up on your teeth. You're not superhuman, get them brushed!
Reply:Brush at least twice a day - after breakfast and before bedtime. If you can, brush after lunch or after sweet snacks. Brushing properly breaks down plaque. Log on to http://tipsfromruby-teethcare.blogspot.c... tips to have sparkle on your teeth and keep them in good.
