How much is brushing your teeth 'too much'?

I'm a bit obsessed with brushing my teeth. I usually brush my teeth 6 times a day, and for each time I use 3 different tubes of toothpaste, and for each tube I brush them for like 3 minutes. I also whiten them every other day with whitening strips. Is this bad for my teeth? I started doing this two weeks ago, and nothing bad has happened... and my teeth are a lot whiter.

Remember that brushing and whitening remove microscopic quantities of the protective layer of enamel which protects your teeth from damage and disease. Over time, excess brushing and whitening will undoubtedly do your teeth harm.

Brush after meals only, and whiten at most once a week.
Reply:That is alittle crazy. You are only suppose to brush your teeth three times a day, but if you want to waste that much toothpaste that's your choice.
Reply:That is a lot. As long as you brush them throughly and for 2 min for 3 times a day you should be fine. Also, flossing and mouthwash are grat to use also.

Using the whitening strips is good too but using them too much can take slowly take away the enamal (protective tooth covering) and make your teeth week and brittle. So be careful with that.

Just brushing and using the whitening mouth wash works really good.
Reply:Just remember to brush in large SOFT circles. Do not try and scrub your teeth, all that will do is cause recession of the gum tissue and abrasion of the actual tooth down by the gum line. Try not to obcess anything done out of moderation can be harmful over time.
